Cartography group develops new methods for analysis of dynamical properties of the objects of biology, physics and geography. The major research concept of the group is a construction of subject maps of the Eath surface on the base of the method of plastic relief, which reveals a dynamic structure of surface relief of the Earth, see bottom, river net and geological horizons. Its formation occurs in gravitation field of the Earth with participation of water and various geological materials. Such maps are useful for ecology, soil science, geology, mining industry, construction and architecture.

For construction of the maps we use our mathematical method of second derivatives or plastic relief, which is based on a transformation of the contour lines of true altitudes of the day surface, depth contours of basins and isohypses of geological horizons.

Capabilities of the plastic relief maps

  • The maps can serve as basic maps in automated information systems where they can be used as a framework of lithologic-stratigraphical profile for objective evaluation of the territory.
  • The maps reveal hidden linear and circular fractures in the Earth crust at various depths; it provides an evaluation of dengerous and less dengerous territories.
  • The maps allow differentiation of a territories as favourable, less favorable and unfavourable for construction, ariculture, mining industry and ecological evaluation.
  • The maps reveal migration ways of toxic agents and contaminants in soils and underground water, that allows elimination of consequences of man-made disasters and reducing morbidity level of population.
  • The maps can be used for optimization of reorganisation of factory areas. They enable to carry out rational land reform and to restore small rivers and basins.
  • The maps can be used to reveal regions subjected to soil erosion, subsidence, landslides, and snowslides.
  • The maps provide reliable differentiation of a territory with slopes of different expositions - shady and sunny, wet and dry, i.e. with different ecological conditions and different crop-producing power.
  • The detailed plastic relief maps can be used for ecological planning of an anthropogenic city landscape.

      Cartographical group performs soil, landscape, geologic, geomorphologic and geoecologic mapping of territories in any scale.
